Sarah and Jason Wedding!

Sarah and Jason were referred to us by Stephanie and Adam, so it was great seeing a lot of familiar faces at their wedding! Sarah and Jason are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and that was completely evident by the love shared by everyone at their wedding last Saturday at the Virginia Center for Architecture. You may remember them from their colorful fall engagement session here. Congratulations to the new Dr. and Mrs!!

One of the best things about shooting weddings are the friends you make. After really getting to know them during their engagement session we felt like old friends by the time their wedding came around. With their infectious personalities you just can’t help but love these two! They couldn’t have been more excited to be getting married, and that makes us so excited to be a part of it. Tracy and Steve were married at the Hilton Hotel and Spa in Short Pump on a gorgeous, unseasonable warm Friday evening in February! For all the VT alum!

Best Of?… We’ll Take It!!

Steven and I found out in early December that we were one of the winners for the Best of Weddings 2013 award given through theknot.com. We could BARELY contain our enthusiasm! The best thing about this recognition was that it’s partly based on the quantity and quality of reviews we had received from our 2012 weddings. The feedback we get from our couples is the lifeblood of our young business. Reading these reviews as soon as they come in always makes our day! A bit of what our newlyweds had to say about us:  “OMG, where to start?! These guys are FANTASTIC! Steven and Lily were on the ball the whole way through. From the very beginning of the planning process to the good-bye send off. They were very attentive and made sure that everything was captured perfectly.“ - Erin C. “They captured the wedding better than my husband remembers it!“ – Beatrice A. “They are a super nice, easy to love couple who is also recently married, so they understand what brides/grooms are going through, what is important to you, etc. I can’t tell you how many times I have told people that I liked my photographers so much that I wanted…

Willoughby Wedding – Richmond, VA Wedding Photographer

Happy, positive, warm, fun, sooo in love… these are the words that come to mind when I think of these two. Katherine and Aaron ‘s late December wedding still had the feeling of the Holidays.  Since this time of year is all about family, it seemed like the perfect way for them to bring everyone together. This was our first time shooting at The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and boy were we in for a treat! So many sweet moments these two shared during their ceremony that we got to spy on! The Weather  Channel was calling for  60% chance of rain, so we came prepared with indoor portrait locations and ideas with umbrellas. Turns out… it was gorgeous,  but it was cold.  If that had been me in front of the camera I would  have been red, shivering and stiff. It’s like they were immune to the temperatures. Just for some background on this next set of pictures… Aaron’s Grandmother took the mic following the Matron of Honor’s speech and told many fun stories about Aaron and his twin brother growing up. About 10 minutes in his Grandfather stole the microphone and said “I haven’t gotten a word in for…

Hawkins Wedding – Petersburg, VA Wedding Photographers

Steven’s known Megan and her family for as long as he can remember. Their families have been extremely close since before he was born, so being able to shoot her wedding was a truly unique and special experience for us.  These two knew how to dance well with each other. It was one of those moments where I was photographing and saying “awwww” at the same time. They were so obviously comfortable, confident, and completely happy in the moment. You two were beautiful out there, it was a pleasure to watch! This wasn’t the only memorable dance from this wedding, and if you know Megan’s dad, that won’t be a surprise. Their Father-Daughter dance was hysterical. It started off with a slow song, but then cut into multiple upbeat hip hop songs, only to go back to the slow song to finish it off. You’ll have to check out the video on YouTube to really appreciate it! I’m sure you can’t help but notice the amazing lighting at this reception. We’re starting to see more emphasis being put on lighting and we love finding ways to really bring it out in the photos! Kim Moody Design did an amazing job visualizing and designing the…

Mandra Wedding – Mariott Ranch, Hume, Virginia Wedding Photographers

Anna and Anthony were married on a beautiful November day in Hume, VA at the Marriott Ranch! They chose to do a First Look prior to their ceremony because not only did they want plenty of portraits before the sun set but also because Anna’s Dad was playing the piano during the cocktail hour! Here comes the Bride!! Because they did a First Look, these two were able to enjoy almost their entire cocktail hour! If you’re looking for a band to play at your wedding you can stop your search now. The Blue Tips played at Anna and Anthony’s wedding and they were amazing! We’ve seen these guys before and they always put on a good show! Anna and Anthony moved to Korea after their wedding, hence the fortune cookies, to-go boxes and the Gagnam Style flash mob!!

Tignor Wedding – Richmond, VA Wedding Photographers

Stephanie and Adam love Richmond and they really seem to take full advantage of this awesome city! We did their engagement photos in the Fan, so it was only fitting that they got married at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in the museum district. We can’t say enough nice things about these two and their families. They are such inviting people. Thank you guys so much for letting us share in your celebration! The Chihuly exhibit was at the museum during their wedding and still is in fact until February 10th! It is an incredible glass exhibit and these red reeds were the perfect background for their reception at the Best Cafe! Dumping out the flower girl’s flowers while she watches… priceless! Talk about a great exit… these two WALKED from their reception to a cute B&B on Grove Avenue!! I bet that little walk was the perfect time to reflect on their wedding. Probably a conversation they’ll remember forever!

Ashe Wedding – Lexington, VA Wedding Photographers

This wedding is a little bitter-sweet for me (Lily). Beatrice and I are friends from college and when she came to me looking for a wedding photographer I was BEYOND thrilled! When she chose the Irvine Estate at House Mountain Inn I immediately ran to a computer to google the location. As soon as I saw it, it looked as elegant and fun as Beatrice is and I knew it was going to be perfect! Then came the date… I couldn’t do it. Steven was free but I had already committed to an out of town trip for a friend of mine. As apologetic as I was to Beatrice she was a little disappointed but excited to have Steven there, whew! So that was the plan and Steven and I were off to find a second shooter to work with him during the wedding. We’d never used a second shooter before but it was crucial for us that Beatrice approve of the photographer we chose. Everything went smoothly and we want to say a big thank you to Annamarie!! Check out Beatrice and David’s beautiful Lexington wedding! Can you really ask for a better day than this? The Fall in Virginia is absolutely…

Andrews Wedding – Emerald Isle Wedding Photographer

This was a true wedding weekend. Many, if not all of Molly and James’ guests were in Emerald Isle for a few days. Friday night’s festivities included a live band and oyster roast/low country boil with food served all evening. Saturday morning Steven, Finn and I walked the mile and a half down the beach to the ceremony site. No one was out, we must have been too early! Later we found out these two were sun bathing on the beach until 2pm! It was a fun, relaxing, celebratory weekend and a fantastic way to start their lives together! Check out Molly’s short dress – LOVE IT! Since their ceremony was right at sunset, they decided to do a First Look to be sure there was plenty of time for lots of wedding portraits of the two of them. Being from Carolina, these two really like to show their dance moves; the shag! Molly and James ride their bikes everywhere on the island as we mentioned in their engagement session. It was only fitting that their “getaway” also be on their bikes except this time, decked out with all the fun “Just Married” gear!

Flowers Wedding – North Carolina Wedding Photographer

Bethany and Scott had their ceremony and reception at the Olde Towne Yacht Club on September 29th in Beaufort, NC…right by the water! It’s always fun getting to shoot in new areas. We spend a lot of time in Emerald Isle but don’t often leave that small area. Their wedding, as well as Bethany’s bridal gave us the opportunity to explore the great little boating town of Beaufort…which was actually named the coolest small town in America! We had so much fun working with and getting to know their families. If you recognize Bethany it may be from her bridal session we did with her back in August! She is such a beautiful bride, it was fun to see her all done up TWICE! We had to highlight this cake smash because it was so unexpected and pretty amazing! Bethany’s turn… Scott’s turn…
